Dear Distinguished Colleagues, The Interpreting and Translation Research Institute (ITRI) at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) cordially invites you to our 25th International Conference (January 23, 2026). This conference is held under the theme “Human and AI Translation: Coexistence and Beyond,” and seeks to examine how the two can move beyond competition toward coexistence and further toward collaborative and sustainable modes of engagement in the era of artificial intelligence. The conference will cover a range of engaging topics, including artificial intelligence in literary and creative translation,
translation and interpreting education in the new era, and the application of AI-assisted translation and interpreting across diverse contexts. In addition, we are honored to welcome the renowned cognitive neuroscientist Adolfo M. García, who has long studied the cognitive and neural mechanisms of interpreters and translators. His keynote lecture will explore the workings of the interpreter’s and translator’s brains, which laid the groundwork for the emergence of machine translation. This academic conference will be held online via Zoom.
